When a horse has had a heavy training or during hot weather it looses a lot of fluid through sweating. This way horses control their body temperature. While sweating a horse doesn't only loose a lot of fluid, but also a lot body electrolytes (salts). Espescially natrium, kalium, chloride and magnesium. A horse looses 7- 10L fluid per hour training while trotting or cantering.  Normal horse food doesn't contain a lot of electrolytes (salts), so it's difficult for them to replace the electrolytes they just lost. That's why it is important to keep an eye on your horses needs for electrolytes. Therfore NAF electro salts is a good solution to maintain the right amount of electrolytes in your horses body. Please note: a horse can't keep a stock of electrolytes in his body. When feeded and not needed it can be a burden for a horses stomach. So only use it as an additional supplement after heavy training or competions. A Himalayan salt lick is enough to maintain daily needs.
